Paramedical Tattooing · Lakewood, Colorado
Lifelike, dimensional areola and nipple tattooing for clients after mastectomy, breast reconstruction, or top surgery — the final step that makes reconstruction feel finished.
3D areola restoration uses professional-quality pigment and careful shading to recreate the look of a natural areola and nipple on reconstructed or scarred skin. It is a flat tattoo, but color, shadow, and highlight are layered so it reads as dimensional in normal light.
For many clients this is the last step of a long reconstruction journey, and it is often the one that finally makes the result feel like their own body again. There is no rush and no pressure — we start with a conversation, not a needle.

Start with a consultationWhat to Expect
The same five steps for every client, so you always know what comes next.
Every treatment begins with a complimentary consultation, either in person or virtually. We’ll discuss your goals, your medical history when applicable, evaluate the treatment area, and determine whether you’re a good candidate. You’ll receive a personalized treatment plan based on your skin, your goals, and your expected outcome. If I don’t believe someone is a good candidate, I’ll always be honest and recommend the best course of action.
We’ll go over the recommended treatment, expected results, pricing, the estimated number of sessions, the healing timeline, and aftercare before moving forward. Every treatment plan is customized, because no two scars — and no two clients — are the same.
Treatments are performed in a private studio using sterile, single-use equipment and professional-quality products. Most appointments last between one and three hours, depending on the size and complexity of the area being treated.
You’ll receive detailed written aftercare instructions following your procedure. Most treatments heal over approximately two to four weeks, while final results become visible around six to eight weeks as the skin completes the healing process.
After healing, we’ll evaluate the results together and decide whether an additional treatment or refinement is recommended. Because everyone’s skin heals differently, treatment recommendations are always individualized.
Kind Words
From the moment I walked in, she made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I had been struggling to find someone I could trust to do my areola tattooing, but Miriah immediately put me at ease.
Insurance & Reimbursement
Some insurance plans may provide reimbursement for 3D areola restoration following a mastectomy or breast reconstruction under the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA).
While Sacred Skin does not bill insurance directly or guarantee reimbursement, we are happy to provide an itemized paid receipt and treatment documentation upon request to assist you with the reimbursement process.
Because every insurance plan is different, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider before treatment to determine:
It is the client’s responsibility to verify coverage and submit any required paperwork to their insurance company.
If you have questions about the documentation we can provide, we’re always happy to help guide you through the process. Just ask at your consultation.
Good to Know
Have one that isn’t here? Just reach out — no question is too small.
Most clients are surprised by how tolerable it is. Reconstructed and scarred areas usually have reduced sensation, so many people feel very little. We’ll talk through exactly what to expect before we begin, and we go at your pace.
Timing depends on your healing and your surgeon’s clearance. Treatment usually happens once the area is fully healed. We always recommend confirming the timing with your medical provider first.
That is the whole goal. Color is matched to your skin, and shading is built up in layers to create the illusion of dimension and projection. We refine the color and detail at your follow-up once everything has healed.
Both. For a single mastectomy the work is matched to your existing side; for a double we design the size, placement, and color together so the result is symmetrical.
Results are long-lasting, though pigment naturally softens over time and may benefit from an occasional refresh. We’ll go over how to care for your results so they look their best for as long as possible.
