Inkless Scar Revision

A pigment-free treatment that works with your skin’s own healing response to improve the texture and tone of a scar — no ink, no color matching.

What it is

Inkless scar revision uses the same precision tattooing technique, but instead of depositing pigment it uses a specialized serum to prompt a controlled healing response in the scar tissue. As the skin remodels, texture softens and tone can even out on its own.

Because nothing is added to the skin, there is no color to match and no pigment to fade — which makes it a strong option for scars that are raised, textured, or darker than the skin around them, where camouflage would struggle.

Who it’s for

  • Raised or textured scars
  • Surgical scars — tummy tuck, C-section, breast surgery
  • Trauma and injury scars
  • Burn scars
  • Stretch marks with a pronounced texture
  • Anyone who would rather not have pigment placed in the skin

Typical treatment timeline

  • Most clients benefit from 2 to 4 treatments.
  • Sessions are typically scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart to allow the skin to fully heal and remodel between treatments.

What to Expect

Your treatment, start to finish

The same five steps for every client, so you always know what comes next.

  1. Complimentary Consultation

Every treatment begins with a complimentary consultation, either in person or virtually. We’ll discuss your goals, your medical history when applicable, evaluate the treatment area, and determine whether you’re a good candidate. You’ll receive a personalized treatment plan based on your skin, your goals, and your expected outcome. If I don’t believe someone is a good candidate, I’ll always be honest and recommend the best course of action.

  2. Personalized Treatment Plan

We’ll go over the recommended treatment, expected results, pricing, the estimated number of sessions, the healing timeline, and aftercare before moving forward. Every treatment plan is customized, because no two scars — and no two clients — are the same.

  3. Treatment Day

Treatments are performed in a private studio using sterile, single-use equipment and professional-quality products. Most appointments last between one and three hours, depending on the size and complexity of the area being treated.

  4. Healing & Aftercare

You’ll receive detailed written aftercare instructions following your procedure. Most treatments heal over approximately two to four weeks, while final results become visible around six to eight weeks as the skin completes the healing process.

  5. Follow-Up

After healing, we’ll evaluate the results together and decide whether an additional treatment or refinement is recommended. Because everyone’s skin heals differently, treatment recommendations are always individualized.

Questions about inkless scar revision

Have one that isn’t here? Just reach out — no question is too small.

How is this different from scar camouflage?

Camouflage adds color-matched pigment so a lighter scar blends into the skin around it. Inkless revision adds no pigment at all — it works on the texture and the skin’s own remodeling. Camouflage addresses how a scar looks; inkless revision addresses how it behaves. Some clients do one, some do both in sequence.

Which one is right for me?

That’s the consultation. In general, flat and light scars respond well to camouflage, while raised, textured, or darker scars are better suited to inkless revision. I’ll look at your scar and tell you honestly.

When will I see results?

Changes are gradual by design — the skin is remodeling, not being covered. Most clients notice improvement over the weeks following each session, with the fuller result building across the treatment series.

Does it hurt?

Comparable to the other treatments, and scar tissue often has reduced sensation. Most clients find it very manageable, and we go at your pace.

How old does the scar need to be?

Fully healed and generally at least a year old. We want the scar to be stable before we work on it.
